Identifying our approaches to language learning Technology

The integration of learning technologies into high school classrooms is being promoted and supported around the world. Underlying the promotion and support are claims that successful integration will lead to enhanced learning outcomes (DoE, 1998).

Identifying our approaches to language learning Technology
Reaction Paper
Recent development in technology  and comunication gave us as a teacher and students opportunitites to improve our efficiency in Language learning, and the presence of the computer assistance Language learning CALL has increasing, and it is an exciting way to apply into the practice of of learning and research areas.
All of this can be seen with the increase amount of technology that each person can posses, from smart phone to ipods, etc as well as the increase of technology in the classroom, with as some of the examples smart boards, computer labs, virtual classes which help us with  the learning process utilizing technology systems in a easier and fun way.

…”technology has a “magic” effect on learning, and simply including it will determine a more positive outcome for any activity…”

New courses designing for teaching and learning English attempt to combine students computer skills with their language process, I also believe that applying this technology into our lessons will enable enhancement in the language learning
What I think about the three positions identified by Warschauer in 1998 is that determinist position are almost all of us nowadays as everybody will look through Internet to learn or research and this actually determine how success we can be on an assignment, so for my personal point of view all of us are Determinist. which means according to Warschauser "From a determinist perspective, a computer is an all-powerful machine that in and of itself brings about certain determined results. Thus research on computer-assisted language learning (CALL) seeks to understand the overall "effect of the computer," often at the insistence of administrators who demand proof that the computer really works"....
For the instrumental position, I think will be the teachers from public schools that do not have enough resources to maintaning a real technology lab or into their lessons students from school may also not be able to have computers or devices to research or work with them, so they may think is not very useful, but they do not realice how can they take advantage, the teacher may need more training to introduce this type of technology into clases in an effective and how to manage the resources.
At ULACIT, technology is a very magical resource for all, teachers and students use very well. The ones I can recall may be the forums, virtual lessons, Internet usage for research, video recording lessons, new presentation tools and much more.
Critical position this is a very nice approach in which the teacher may be able to identify whether the student is good at an specific area or not an take advantage if it, given them the appropiate way to be a success student in class and assigning them the correct tolos and resources to be success.
Generally, the current world has accepted all technologies in one form or another. Everybody in this globe applies technology at the moment in one way or the other. Independently of whether technology is taking us over or helping the world radically, either positively or negatively, we require technology in our daily lives. Demand for technology is very necessary for our future, and a great advantage to never fade away and because of their steady progress becomes more challenging day to day. We live alongside technology now and whether we control it or it controls us, it originated from us, therefore we should accept any outcome technology bring.
The management of these new systems provides a great opportunity for our students to develop fully as citizens of a modern and multicultural world in which the English language plays an important role.
As mentioned above, in general, teachers must be a bridge between technology and student learning, serving as a guide in the process and giving them an active role. We many need to take this factor into consideration
• Teachers need to be involved in their own training to overcome barriers of technological knowledge.
• The educational administration must provide training.
More specifically, as the area of English, teachers must be clear about the following purposes:
• To recognize English as the medium of global communication and as an essential tool for access to information sources.
• Bringing different cultures to our students through authentic materials that provides the use of new technologies.
• Develop and practice all the skills through audiovisual and computer media.
In short, education today is not only be merely a vehicle for transmitting knowledge in a passive process. we must engage in the process and promote an independent and individual learning using all the tools that our society has. Our students must be aware that new technologies open a window to the world.
